Fabric & Care Instructions
Fabric Technology
Every Careletics garment is engineered with healthcare professionals in mind. Our fabrics are selected for durability, comfort during extended wear, ease of care, and resistance to the demands of clinical environments.
Performance Stretch
78% Polyester | 20% Rayon | 2% SpandexOur signature Performance Stretch fabric is found across our core scrub tops and jogger-style bottoms. The polyester base provides durability and moisture-wicking properties, while rayon adds a soft, breathable drape. Spandex delivers four-way stretch for unrestricted movement through any task.
CoolComfort Ripstop
65% Polyester | 35% CottonOur CoolComfort Ripstop blend is used in our structured cargo-style bottoms and utility tops. The cotton component provides a natural, breathable feel against the skin, while the polyester adds strength and resistance to shrinking. Ripstop weaving prevents tears from spreading, extending garment life in high-movement environments.
FluidShield Pro
90% Polyester | 10% Spandex — DWR TreatedFluidShield Pro is our premium fabric for high-risk clinical environments. Treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish, this fabric causes liquids to bead and roll off the surface. Available on select isolation-style tops and full-coverage scrubs.
How to Care for Your Scrubs
Proper care keeps your Careletics scrubs looking professional and performing at their best. Follow these instructions to maximize the lifespan of your garments.
Wash
Machine wash cold or warm (max 104°F / 40°C) on a gentle or normal cycle. Wash with like colors.
Detergent
Use a mild, color-safe detergent. Avoid bleach on Performance Stretch and FluidShield fabrics.
Dry
Tumble dry low. High heat breaks down stretch fibers and reduces DWR coating effectiveness.
Iron
Iron on low heat if needed. Do not iron directly over logos, embroidery, or decorative stitching.
No Dry Clean
Dry cleaning chemicals damage stretch fibers and remove performance coatings from all fabric lines.
To reactivate the DWR water-repellent treatment after repeated washing, tumble dry on medium heat for 20 minutes. The heat restores the coating's performance. Do this every 10 to 15 washes for best results.

Pro Tips for Healthcare Workers
These tips are specifically for those who wear scrubs daily in clinical environments where exposure to bodily fluids, disinfectants, and frequent laundering is common.
Separate Work Scrubs
Always wash your work scrubs separately from household laundry to prevent cross-contamination and to use a different wash cycle as needed for your facility's guidelines.
Use Antimicrobial Detergent
For environments requiring clinical hygiene standards, use a healthcare-grade or antimicrobial laundry detergent. These are designed to neutralize pathogens without damaging performance fabrics.
Pre-Treat Blood Stains
Rinse blood stains in cold water as soon as possible. Never use hot water on blood stains as heat sets the protein. A small amount of hydrogen peroxide can help lift stubborn stains before washing.
Rotate Your Scrubs
Rotating between at least two to three sets of scrubs extends the life of each garment by reducing wear frequency and allowing fabric to fully recover its shape between wearings.
Check Disinfectant Compatibility
Some hospital-grade surface disinfectants can cause fabric fading if splashed directly. Rinse affected areas with cold water immediately and launder as usual.
Air Dry When Possible
When time allows, hang drying your scrubs instead of tumble drying extends the life of stretch fibers and preserves color vibrancy over repeated washes.
